Kalisena - Aspergillus niger (AN - 27)

General Information:

Aspergillus niger (AN-27) isolated by the group of eminent scientist from  India’s most premiers Agricultural Institute – IARI (Indian Agricultural Research Institute). Technology has been licensed standardized and commercialized by CADILA PHARMACEUTICALS LTD – AGRO DIVISION under brand ‘Kalisena’.

Kalisena [Aspergillus niger strain (AN-27)] is a unique fungal species which has proven dual functionality as bio fertilizer as well as bio fungicide in all crops.

Advantages of technology:

  • Ability to function in diverse abiotic conditions : Survive and work efficiently in temperature ranging between of 0 0c to 45 0c with no specific moisture and pH requirements (3-10 pH).
  • Proven fungicidal property against pathogenic fungi :Has antagonistic effect on the target pathogen fungus. Strain produces antifungal compound of butanolide group responsible for the antibiosis leading to death of pathogen. Controls major disease causing pathogenic fungi viz., Fusarium spp., Pythium spp., Rhizoctonia spp., Macrophomina spp. and Sclerotinia sp.
  • Excellent Biofertilizer cum  growth promoter: Secrete two growth promoting compounds viz., maleic anhydrie and hexyl itaconic acid,  responsible for increasing root & shoot length and biomass of crop plants.
  • Acts as excellent phosphorus solubilizer and iron mobilizer : Solubilizes the mineralized phosphate by organic acid (succinic acid) production. It also produces hydroxamate and catecholate type of iron chelating compounds.
  • Enhances seed germination, initial plant growth and resistance system : Augments plants defence enzymes viz., phenyl alanine ammonia lyase and polyphenol oxidases helping plants develop resistance.
  • Non-phytotoxic higher dosages : Not included in the pathogenic species of Aspergillus, responsible for producing mycotoxins in food and animal feed.

Recommend Doses :

Kalisena FS : Seed treatment up to 8gm/kg seeds of any crop

Kalisena SA : Mix 1 kg per acre in soil and as a composting agent mix 1 kg per 1000 kg FYM
